Welcome to ABSTRACTO – a site dedicated to reviewing literature associated with Latin music which has been published in English. The particular focus here is on Afro-Latin/Cuban/Puerto Rican/Nuyorican music, especially salsa and related genres, including the cultural, political and historical context in which such music has evolved.

Basically, ABSTRACTO looks at Latin music in print.

Whilst there are many different places where you can find out about books related to Latin music, there exists no single source which gathers this information together in an easily accessible manner. In time I hope that this will become the most comprehensive site available and be the first port of call for those wishing to see what has been written about this wonderful music, its artists and influences.

You can access each book from the selection under Reviews

ABSTRACTO would love to hear what other readers think so please feel free to add your own opinion or review by way of the comments facility that appears at the end of each individual book review.

If you wish to make any other comments, suggest a book or ask further questions then please e-mail here or visit ABSTRACTO @ MySpace
